Trusted by in-house legal teams across industries
The knowledge is in your contracts. Now you can access it.
Every signed contract reflects a decision your team made: what liability cap was acceptable, which termination provisions were agreed to, how a clause was negotiated for a specific client. That institutional knowledge is invaluable, but it is locked inside individual documents. Pactly extracts it into a single, structured view so you can learn from past decisions and apply them to future ones.
HOW IT WORKS

How in-house legal teams use Contract Analysis
Every legal team has questions that span multiple contracts. Pactly gives you answers in minutes instead of days.
Learn from past negotiations
Understand how your team has handled specific clauses across different clients and deal types. Compare liability positions, termination provisions, or commercial terms side by side to see what was accepted, what was pushed back on, and why.
Benchmark your contract positions
Before entering a new negotiation, see how similar deals were structured. Extract the key positions from your last 10 vendor agreements or client contracts and use that data to set informed starting points for the next one.
Prepare reports and summaries
When the board, management, or a business unit asks "what are our liability positions across our vendor agreements?" you can answer in minutes. Extract the data, export to Excel, and deliver a structured summary instead of spending days pulling information from individual files.
Audit for consistency and compliance
Quickly identify contracts with non-standard terms, missing clauses, or provisions that no longer align with current policy. When regulations change or internal standards are updated, find the contracts that need attention without reviewing them one by one.
Ask any question. Get structured answers.
Pactly includes preset columns for the most common data points, but you can ask anything. If a lawyer could find the answer by reading the contract, Pactly can extract it across your entire portfolio.

FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Common questions about AI Contract Analysis
How does AI Contract Analysis differ from contract review?
Contract review (using Pactly Playbooks or Smart Templates) is about reviewing individual contracts during negotiation, identifying issues, and suggesting edits. Contract Analysis is about extracting and comparing specific data points across many contracts at once. Think of review as going deep on one document, and analysis as going wide across your portfolio.
What types of contracts can I analyze?
Any contract stored in Pactly can be included in an analysis project. This includes template contracts you have drafted, counterparty contracts reviewed with playbooks, and external documents you have uploaded. There is no limit on contract type.
How accurate is the AI extraction?
Pactly uses advanced language models to extract data from contracts. Every extraction includes a link to the source clause so you can verify the result directly. You can also enable AI reasoning to see exactly how the model interpreted the contract language. If a result needs correction, you can re-run extraction on individual cells with adjusted prompts.
Can I create my own extraction columns?
Yes. Pactly includes 15+ preset columns covering common data points (dates, governing law, liability, termination, IP), but you can create unlimited custom columns by describing what you want to extract in plain language. You choose the output format (text, date, yes/no, list) and can optionally include AI reasoning.
Can I export the results?
Yes, you can export any project to Excel (.xlsx) with a single click. The export includes all extracted values, and you can optionally include AI reasoning and source reference columns for a complete audit trail.
How many contracts can I analyze at once?
Each analysis project supports up to 500 contracts. On the free trial, projects are capped at 25 contracts. For most in-house legal teams, 500 contracts per project is more than sufficient. If you need to analyze a larger set, you can split it across multiple projects with the same column configuration using the duplicate feature.
Is this the same as "tabular review" offered by other tools?
The core concept is similar: AI extracts structured data from contracts into a table. Where Pactly differs is in what happens after extraction. Because your contracts already live in Pactly, the analysis connects directly to your contract lifecycle. You can trace results back to the source document, compare positions across your portfolio over time, and use your findings to inform future negotiations. We are building Contract Analysis specifically around the needs of in-house legal teams, focusing on use cases like benchmarking past negotiations, auditing portfolio positions, and preparing management reports, rather than one-off due diligence on uploaded documents.
