Your First Contract on the Web

The fastest way to learn Pactly’s web app is to get one contract in front of you. This guide takes you from signing in to your first contract, then hands off to the sections that cover each job in depth.

There is no setup wizard and no tour. You sign in, Pactly drops you where your role works most, and for most people that is the Contracts repository, the searchable list of every agreement your team handles.

Go to app.pactly.ai and enter your email address. Pactly reads your email domain and shows the right next step: your password, or a Single Sign-On button if your organization uses Microsoft sign-in. If your account has an extra security factor turned on, you enter a code from your authenticator app after your password.

If you were invited by an administrator, your welcome email contains a link to set your password before this first sign-in.

After you sign in, Pactly routes you by role. Most people land on the Contracts repository, the list of every contract you can access.

The very first time, before any contracts exist, you see an empty state that reads “It looks like you haven’t added or been assigned any contracts yet” with a Create a contract button. That button is your starting point.

From the repository you do one of two things: start a new contract, or open one that is already there.

Step 1 of 3
1
Open the Create menu

Click Create a contract on the empty state, or the Create button in the top of the repository once contracts exist. Pactly offers three paths: draft from a template (your paper), review a third-party document (their paper), or send a finished document for e-signature.

2
Pick the path that matches your situation

Choose the path for the document you have. Create a Contract walks through when to use each one and what status the contract starts in.

3
Find a contract that already exists

Once your team has contracts, use the search box to find one by reference number or name, or filter the list by status, owner, or party. Click any row to open the contract record.

Step 1 of 3

You now know the first screen and how a contract gets onto it. Each job below has its own section that goes deeper than this on-ramp.
